The flag 3-foot hoist by 4-foot, with fringe 2 1/2 inches wide,
the embroidery is the same as in other flags from the same period.
The flag made in 1963 for the HQ, 2 Bn. 501st Infantry

The flag came from the estate of Col. Gerald G. Chikalla
who commanded an infantry battalion in the 101st in 1972.
The flag is marked on the sleeve pole tag
as the official standard of the 2nd Bn. 501st Infantry.
It is believed this is the flag the battalion carried in Vietnam.
